Three goals

Here are three things I’ll try to do:

1. I want to give some foundational principles to help you understand how to approach God and to know when you’re in His presence.

2. I want you to understand what to do when you find yourself there.

3. I also want to help you identify what you can expect to receive from God in the Place of Prayer and Intercession.

When these three components come together, you may feel like a prayer person, not simply a religious person.

How to approach God ?

Do You Acept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior?

1-Jesus is the Gate into the presence of God. In (John 10:7-11 )Jesus said'' I assure you most solemly I tell you, that I myself am the door for the Sheep.

2- Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.(John 14:6)

3-I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved (jonh 10:9)

4- Jesus answered" No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him,and I will raise him up at the last day."(John 6:44)

To whom are we addressing the prayer?

1. To Almighty God, Jehovah. It involves two-way conversation between a person and God.

2. Who is God? - Jehovah, I'm what I am!  in Exodus 3: 15-16

3. What does God represent to you?

4. What are we in God?

John 1:12-13:”…but those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believed in his name. 13 who were born not from human stock, or human desire or human will, but from God himself.

How do I comunicate with God, by hearing his Voice?

Jesus explain this principle in John 10" I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.... My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me"(vv.14,27)

In other pratical words, the more you spend time in intimate relationship with God the more you get to know Him, Ex: Like, the way your get to know your new friends, family or your husband or wife.

Open your heart

How can we position ourselves to hear what He has to say, understand it and experience its practical application in our everyday life?

I’d like to share my experience with you. For me approaching God’s presence is “without protocol”, because God can handle anything from us, requests, cries, petitions, hardship, worship, joy, etc. All that God wants from us is that when you call his name, you open your heart honestly before Him.

In Revelation: 3:20: “Look, I am standing at the door, Knocking. If one of you hears me calling and opens the door, I will come in to share a meal at a person’s door; I will come in to share a meal at that person’s side.”

This is a very powerful passage; I was asking God to explain that to me its means. It means God telling us “I live inside of you, in your heart, and I call on you, if you open you heart to me. In other words, “stay in my Word, which is in you, and I will reveal myself and my will to you.”

Here’s another Biblical quotation from Matthew 6:25; 33: “Set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on god’s savings justice and all these other things will be given, into whom? To you!”

To take another example from the Bible, we should open our heart like Samuel, who first heard God’s voice while still a small boy.

How to do it ?

What is prayer?

1.Prayer is commanded. Prayer is dialogue one on one with Jehovah God.  With is someone that is close to us, and loves us very much. God speaks to believers. God speaks to me; he wants to speak to you too.

2. Prayer is universal. Prayer is the only thing that not one religion can claim possession of or origination of. It is not a denominational or religious experience.

3. Prayer is an individual experience that takes place between the creator and those whom He has created. God desires to speak to each of us individually! He wants to meet us where we are, regardless of who we are and reveal himself to us in a personal way.

4. Prayer means to be in communion with God.

Prayer time

Any time is good but I suggest the prayer should be made earlier in the morning for 4 reasons:

First let me share this Biblical passage, where we can follow the example of Jesus. Marc 1:35: “In the morning, long before dawn, he got up and left the house and went off to a lonely place and prayed there.”

1. Put God first, offering him the first fruit which is the best of your time.

2. You are fresh in the morning.

3. Your spirit gets its spiritual food for the whole day.

4.  Receive instructions from God for your day.

We should pray regularly, on a daily basis, not only when we feel like it.

One way to do it is to set some time to spend with God and divide this time in two equal parts: reading and meditating about the Scriptures and praying and praising the Lord

What should we expect to receive ?

John 15:7:  “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for whatever you please and you will get it.”

What do we want?

  • Develop a more intimate, richer prayer life and deeper, more intimate relationship with God?
  • To hear from God in practical ways? Do we want to get answers?
  • To comfortably share our experience of God with others?

What you get is a process

The book “The Threshing Floor” explains it like this:

“..He will lead you all the way through each step of the process until you come into His glory – because His ultimate goal is that you not only see His glory, but that he gets glory out of your life”.

“..God has many things that He wants to tell you in secret. But He has a time-table and a schedule to bring each of them to fruition. When the Lord gets ready to launch you prayer ministry, it doesn’t mean that he’s finished dealing with you in every area of your life”.

My personal experience

Sometimes I pray in the grocery store, in the bathroom or while I’m cooking. There’s no schedule when God’s is calling you for an intercession prayer. I often receive the answers to my prayers right on the spot. It means I have to commit myself to God’s will if he calls me to be in his presence. So, to receive my answers at times depends on how much time I do spend with Most High at this secret place. It is a process.
